The son of two North Carolina educators, Mr. Moncure began his business career as an entrepreneur.  While attending UNC at Chapel Hill, Mr. Moncure established a successful screenprinting company that manufactured and remarketed screenprinted apparel to local North Carolina businesses.

After graduating from UNC with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mr. Moncure began working for IBM in sales and marketing.  His career with IBM took him to Washington, DC where he was responsible for “new business” and “competitive” computer sales.  While in Washington DC, he earned his Masters of Business Administration degree in Information Systems and Applied Technology.  In 1986, Mr. Moncure became the Regional Marketing Manager for the regional office of IBM’s National Marketing Division based in Charlotte, NC.  In 1989, Mr. Moncure joined Info Systems of N.C. Inc.; a small software and systems integration business, focused on supply chain/ EDI software and services.  In 1991, Mr. Moncure became President of Info Systems, and in 1993 was elected Chief Executive Officer.  Over the 6 years that Mr. Moncure led the company, it grew from $1.5 million to $28 million in annual revenues and was recognized 4 years in a row, by The Charlotte Business Journal, as a member of the “Fast 50” growth companies.  Over the years, Mr. Moncure’s company was involved in information technology spanning from shopfloor data collection to point-of-sale devices.

After a company buyout in 1995, Mr. Moncure joined Microsoft Corporation as the Managing Consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services’ Carolinas Practice where he built the organization to 18 consultants specializing on Microsoft product deployments within major accounts.  In 1996, Mr. Moncure was promoted to Regional Manager for Microsoft’s initiatives in developing line-of-business applications from Partners and matching them to requirements across multiple industry segments.  Part of Mr. Moncure’s responsibilities were to recommend Microsoft’s E Commerce strategy as well as build the sales function for selling to Executives.

In August of 1999, Mr. Moncure left Microsoft to join Synapse DataBase Marketing Inc.  Within 90 days of joining Synapse, Mr. Moncure had acquired a Microsoft/IBM business partner & integration company, started an E Commerce Group and redirected the original company to focus on “intelligent commerce”.  The concept behind intelligent commerce is to build specific industry based core competencies into the latest Internet technologies so companies may be “fast” and “smart” in their approach to business.  Today, Mr. Moncure leads a team of 10 Executives that are responsible for taking Synapse Technology to the next level of growth and value serving customers on a local, regional and national basis.  Synapse Technology was recently honored by Deloitte and Touche’s Technology Fast 50 where they were recognized as the 9th fastest growing technology company in North Carolina for 2000.

Mr. Moncure participates on the Chief Information Officer Council within the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Elon College Information Technology Council, University of North Carolina’s PhD Program and is on the Board of Directors for Up With People.  He, his wife, Beth, and two children reside in Charlotte and call North Carolina “home.”
