| Abstract: |
An open discussion of issues relating to adding MacOS X clients to existing IT infrastructures. This discussion will include MacOS X Server, Novell, Windows Active Directory, Kerberos, OpenLDAP, OpenAFS, authenticated printing, and other environments as the discussion and questions dictate. A short presentation on the methods used by NCSU in their public Macintosh labs will be presented. Discussion of Apple Software Restore and other tools for imaging and restoring hard disks will follow. When making the transition to OS X, you must consider the financial, logistical and human impacts in your eductional environment. This discussion will take you through our recent transition to OS X at UNCC, what we learned, how we did it, and what we wished we'd known beforehand. We will take you through the practical steps to ensure your OS X transition goes as smooth as possible. Please come and share your knowledge with the group. |
