| Abstract: |
Campus IT projects vary widely in how they are managed. They probably also vary widely in how they "should" be managed. Should requirements be defined up front? Do you build in-house or buy a commercial product? If you buy a commercial product, what's involved in the local implementation? Who has the money (money always seems to be required)? When do you involve end users? Who makes what decisions? This session will briefly describe some recent projects on the UNC Chapel Hill campus and will use those projects to suggest some answers to the many questions we all have when we\'re trying to meet the needs of our customers. The presentation will describe what\'s worked well on the projects, but will also cover a few of the unpleasant surprises and how they were handled. People who come to the session should come prepared with success stories and horror stories of their own to extend the lessons we can all learn. |
| Audience: |
| People who are involved in project teams, whether as project manager or as a team member. Technical staff as well as end users will benefit. |
