| Abstract: |
| Through multi-layered defenses and distributed incident response, the ITS-Security office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been able to cripple any massive or minor attack within minutes because of existing tools and architectures; many of which are free or normally available to most environments. The Security group's access to, and close cooperation between security and other University I.T. groups plays an important role in the implementation and successful use of these tools in timely incident response. This lecture describes the procedures and technologies used to rapidly contain and suppress network instrusions and incidents. |
