Abstract:

It goes without saying that email has become an indispensable element of our day-to-day professional and personal lives. The design, implementation, support and upgrading of the infrastructure that makes email work, as well as the management of customer expectations, are important elements of any successful email offering. This panel plans on discussing these topics and many more.

UNCCH developed a web application for requesting and distributing official messages through email. This system provides support for mailing to predefined sectors of the university community. Approved messages can be sent to all students as well as to all employees. Some filtering is available to target specific subpopulations of recipients. This presentation will demonstrate the Mass Email System and highlight technical aspects of the system, the approval process and policy decisions relating to mass email.
